Tralee.

View from Connor Pass, Dingle Peninsula.

Valentia Island no. 2. Austrians in the Mist.

Valentia Island, just over the Iveragh Peninsula (which features the "Ring of Kerry" route)

Unless you are unsure what not removing stones involves, here is a diagram. Staigue fort, near Kenmare.

Staigue Fort, thought to have been built around 4AD by a local chieftain. Access is free, although because it is landlocked the guy whose property you have to walk over charges a euro. There was an honesty box. We gave him a cent.

Killarney National Park no. 2

Killarney National Park

This was part of the modest exhibition at the Fastnet observatory. This particular item defies any sensible explanation.

Looking through a gap in some craggy rocks, Mizen Head. My school art history teacher would have muttered something about chiaroscuro and dramatic diagonals. I just liked the lichen.

Fastnet Observatory, Mizen Head peninsula. "The most South West place in Ireland" (and therefore Europe) according to the literature.

Misty Atlantic off South West Coast of Ireland.

On the road to Mizen Head. The Austrian and Number One do an album cover shot.

Franciscan Abbey no. 3

Franciscan Abbey no. 2

Timoleague, Ireland (somewhere near Clonakilty). Franciscan Abbey.

Kinsale Harbour, Ireland. Charles Fort, built during the 1670s. A good vantage point for spotting the French, whose navy was often crusing around looking for a sheltered cove from where they could invade England.

We bumped into this fellow in Trafalgar Square recently. You may remember him from the 2004 Athens Olympics where he pushed marathon runner Vanderlei de Lima out of the race in order to demonstrate the fulfilment of a biblical prophecy. Here he is doing a jig. A complete nutter, but you have to admit he has nice legs for a bloke.

Sometimes people are more interesting than objects. Lobby in the Victoria & Albert Museum (April 2006)

I woke up this morning to Number One enriching uranium in the bathroom. I was like, hey, it's a free world, but it's YOUR mess so YOU clean it up.

Geckos in the news again.

Day 396

Welcome to geckospake.

By way of an introduction, try this simple exercise.

1. Go outside and walk briskly down the street;
2. As you begin to stride out, keep your arms firmly at their sides;
3. Reflect on how mistrustful you should feel of anyone who walks around like that as a matter of course.

Look, I spend a lot of time walking around the city, I am entitled to comment.
